OceanEnergy Limited is a specialised commercial company developing wave energy technology. The company has over the past 7 years developed and tested its OE Buoy technology to the stage where it is now the most commercially viable technology for harnessing the power of the oceans. OceanEnergy Management Team

The management team at OceanEnergy bring together a wealth of experience from a broad spectrum of backgrounds. Senior Management are as follows John McCarthy CPA, Michael Whelan and John Keating BBS. The team is additionally backed up and supported by consultants and professionals within and outside the Energy Sector.

John McCarthy, CPA CEO

He has over 20 years of business experience in a variety of positions and enterprises, both in Ireland and internationally. As co-founder of OceanEnergy John has provided strategic direction for the company over the last 7 years of development and now leads the company towards the next phase of growth as the company nears commercialisation. John's career background is in accountancy, finance and development projects. He has specialised in innovative development projects that maximise returns and provide high potential commercial opportunities. The projects were generally capital intensive and required specialist knowledge and experience.

Michael Whelan, Operations Director

Mike Whelan has over 30 years experience working in an offshore environment as a commercial diver operating in and understanding hostile sea environments such as the North Sea and the Arabian Gulf. He subsequently became Ireland's foremost salvage and marine recovery expert operating his own towage and salvage company.

As Operations Director and co-founder of OceanEnergy Mike has been at the forefront of the company's technical advancements over the last number of years. Mike project managed the build and deployment of the ¼ scale device presently in Galway Bay. Mike is responsible for the day to day operations of the sea trials in Galway Bay.

John Keating, BBS Commercial Director

As Commercial Director John brings a wide skill set to the OE Board. John's responsibility includes a strong emphasis on the management of key business relationships, project management and negotiation allied with a core business analytical function. John holds a degree in Business Studies and specialises in Accountancy and Finance and he has obtained extensive experience of strategic corporate financial planning and company performance.
